Watching Lots of Movies!
Between the short, cold days (read: long nights on the couch) and lots of air travel, I have watched plenty of movies that I highly recommend. Some are older, some are Oscar contenders, but I think they are all excellent. So here is the Bookmark This top movie picks starting with some documentaries and followed by Oscar nominees. “The Rescue” tells the true story of 12 boys and their coach trapped in a cave in Thailand and rescued by a world-wide effort. “Inventing David Geffen” reveals the fascinating business decisions made by the tenacious and visionary Geffen, a music and film icon. “Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable” is the ultimate comeback story as we watch Hamilton return to world-class surfing after a shark attack at age 13. I adored the Oscar nominated “CODA” which tells the story of teenager Ruby, gifted with a beautiful voice, and her struggles of being the only hearing person in her family (filmed in Gloucester, MA). Finally, “Licorice Pizza” is a dreamy film with many light moments but accented with darker, suspenseful action. The 1970’s, San Fernando Valley backdrop is “right on” and cameos by Brad Cooper and Sean Penn are really groovy.
