We’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!
When I was growing up 40+ years ago, big butts were not desirable, talking about mental health was practically taboo and smoking weed meant you were a hippie/druggie. Today, big round butts are something to flaunt (natural or implanted), seeing a therapist weekly is the norm, and cannabis usage is legal (most places) and very accepted. It took a few generations, but how heartening that social mores and laws that govern our behavior can actually adapt to changing societal attitudes. How nice to accept our bodies be they shapely or sharp; how nice to seek out a professional to address our mental health; how nice to use and enjoy cannabis if we so choose. Makeup, nail polish and “feminine” fashions are no longer assigned to one gender. But I wonder what will be even more acceptable 40 years from now? Guess I’m living until at least 98 to find out.
