“Dopesick”

I am nearly finished with this 8-episode series on the Purdue Pharma/Sackler family opioid fiasco that affected so, so many lives. The narrative combines fictionalized characters and storylines based on truth. Michael Keaton plays a small-town doctor that not only innocently prescribes the drug, but ends up becoming an addict himself. He is just one of many characters whose life spiraled downward due to Oxycontin. There are so many facets of society involved in this story: private corporations, the FDA, DEA, attorney generals, hard-working Americans, doctors, hospitals and so on. It is an important story to know and Hulu/Danny Strong present it very well.
