Fall in New England

We New Englanders like to complain about the weather, but we also get to experience four distinct seasons and the fall is one of the nicest. During a recent trip to Florida just before Halloween, I noticed how odd it felt to see Halloween decorations everywhere despite the 85 degree temps. But those decorations (and the Thanksgiving ones and the Christmans ones...) are kind of how those in the South mark the seasons. But up here, our fall is very obvious by the falling temps and leaves changing color. Just the other day we experienced a quintessential fall day with friends as we kayaked on their lake surrounded by the beauty of leaves turning golden and cranberry and geese flying in formation. The sun was glistening and we even spotted an eagle soaring above us. ‘Twas a memorable autumn day in our beloved New England.
