“Nobody Will Tell You This But Me”

Admittedly, this book was slightly confusing at first as the narrator is the imagined voice of the author’s dead grandmother. Bess Kalb, the author, has saved every voicemail message her grandmother Bobby - her best friend, her confidante - ever left her until the day she died. Bess wrote this moving memoir based on memories, family research and voicemails. It is a rich tale indeed as the reader learns about one family’s generational journey from escaping persecution to emigrating to the U.S. to enjoying opportunity, education and wealth. A shout out to Carol for recommending this gem!
