“Poor Things”

Wow, was this weird and really good!  Nominated for 11 Oscars, “Poor Things”  is a bit “Frankenstein” as we witness a dead woman brought back to life, but also encompasses a coming of age and coming into life story where there seem to be fewer boundaries despite it taking place in Victorian times.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see Emma Stone receive an Academy award for this performance - her character’s physical and mental states transform throughout the film and Stone nails it. Add to that her comedic deliveries and unabashed sex scenes and you couldn’t ask an actress to give more to a role than she did.  Mark Ruffalo, her lover and Willem DaFoe, her “daddy” are also fantastic!
