Slowing Down

It’s the middle of July and we are in the sweet spot of summer in New England.  Whether I’m walking on the beach or on a post dinner “dessert walk” near the house, it’s easy to just go through the motions, follow the usual route and not really observe what is right in my path.  This week, I’m trying to appreciate those “small” things that I  see yet don’t typically “zoom” in on.  Like a seashell or a beautiful hydrangea.  They are so omnipresent at this time of year and yet each one is unique when you stop, crouch down and get really close.  Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it definitely wouldn’t kill us to slow down and appreciate the beauty that is right in our midst.
