TikTalk

TikTok.  TikTalk.  I’m not talking about the sound of a clock; I’m referring to the incessant discussion in my household of the most downloaded app of 2020 – TikTok. With the target audience living with me for the summer (though my 26-year-old doesn’t qualify), it’s all about watching, rehearsing and recording TikToks (15-60 second videos) ad nauseum.  When not doing any of the above, you’re (tik) talking about what you just saw or will do.  Aside from providing pure entertainment (and recipes and news), the goal is to be a TikTok-er who goes viral (see “Applauding” below).  Truth be told, my daughter Ruby invited me into a few of her TikToks and it was actually a lot of fun.  I was challenged to remember the very unfamiliar moves and loved being part of something with my kids.  Try it, before tick tock, the next latest and greatest app comes along.
