Uncle Dave

When a house guest is your sibling, a very unique dynamic takes over.  I play hostess but easily slide into my big sister role of being parent-like but also child-like.  I play hostess but feel no pressure to “perform” because after all, it’s just family.  Uncle Dave’s visit to Nantucket last week was utterly delightful because of the merging of familial bonds with lots of activity.  From playing golf  to hanging at the beach to fun dinners to dancing at “The Chicken Box” - we thoroughly enjoyed our short time together.  It made me realize that though family visits are rare, they are like a comfortable pair of slippers: they slip right on with no breaking-in time necessary.  So a shout-out to my little bro who was a wonderful guest, doting uncle, and who reminded me that family connection is everything.
