The Weight of Gold

I love it when a podcast inspires me to watch a companion movie and both forms of media are so well done and complimentary. The “Weight of Gold” is a documentary executive produced by Michael Phelps and digs deep into the mental health issues (and financial issues) that many Olympians face with little to no support from their coaches/US Olympic organization. It’s sad and shocking to learn how these elite athletes suffered all those years leading up to and after the Olympic games, while we the spectators had no idea. Lolo Jones, Bode Miller, Shaun White, Apolo Ohno and Sasha Cohen are among the featured athletes interviewed.
