“BeReal”

Let me introduce you to my favorite social media app,“BeReal”.  While I am a very sporadic user of instagram and FB, I am a devoted user of BeReal.  As Ruby was spending an entire semester in Barcelona, she encouraged me to “do” BeReal so that we could share a moment with each other (and any friends we include in our BeReal group) everyday.  Here’s how it works:  BeReal sends a notification at some point during the day or night (you never know when) to take a selfie and a pic of what you are looking at, at that moment.  No time to stage anything, pose or do touch-ups.  It’s about what you are doing at that exact time (be it working, just waking up or at a club).  Ruby is often on the metro or in a club.  I’m often in my kitchen.  Ethan’s often working in front of his screen.  I love getting a snapshot of my kids and friends everyday in a fresh, spontaneous way.  I feel connected to them and they to me.
