Bonding: Ligaments and Relationships

I sit here at Train Boston, a physical therapy facility where my 24 year old daughter is working on her recovery from ACL surgery. I am her nurse, her driver, her companion and her mom. As I look at that last sentence, I realize I have always been those things to her (at least until she got her license) and feel very happy to help her out during these early weeks of healing. It is amazing to witness Sabrina’s progress from being in pain and on the couch all day, to starting PT and “losing” her crutches, to going out to restaurants and museums. The body’s ability to repair itself (with the help of excellent surgeon, Dr. Gill) is miraculous, almost as miraculous as the mother/child relationship that can actually grow stronger over time.
