“Emilia Pérez”

I am caught up in “awards season” and was not disappointed with the Golden Globe Awards show hosted by Nikki Glaser to kick things off.  The speeches, nominees and snippets of movies inspired me to see “Nickel Boys”, “The Substance” and “Emilia Pérez” (so far).  All of them are captivating but I found that “Emilia Peréz” had a complexity and depth to it that is notable.  It is a subtle and beautiful musical, but that is secondary to the profound plots of good vs. evil, love vs. smothering, and body vs. spirit. Zoe Saldana was magnificent in her role as was Karla Sofia Gascon.  You can stream it for free on Netflix.
