Good-Bye Waban
The time has come - again - (See BMTs 61 and 69) for Mitch and me to move out of our home of the last 20 years. The renovations of the condo we purchased in the Back Bay are nearly complete after a year of work, so we truly are leaving the ‘burbs. The timing coincides well with the sale of our Waban home due to close in April. I feel sad and happy, anxious and excited, unprepared and ready. What will it feel like that first morning upon waking in a strange room in an urban neighborhood that is familiar yet not “mine” yet? Although the Waban house has been depersonalized and we are nearly all packed up, I love my Waban routine - my favorite fitness studios off of Route 9, my 1.7 mile “Starbucks” walk, my “Johnny’s Luncheonette” for the best veggie egg scramble. Developing new routines from a new home is the whole point of us moving, right? Chapter 3: Jill and Mitch’s Urban Adventure. Come to think of it, that chapter sounds like it could be pretty exciting. Perhaps I should reframe my thinking from good-bye Waban to Hello Boston!
