“Horse”

I loved this book by Geraldine Brooks because a) it eloquently covers many topics including the racing, siring, art and biological preservation of horses, b) the story weaves a tale tying “Lexington”, a real and winning thoroughbred of the 1850’s with an artist in 1954 as well as with a modern day Smithsonian scientist and c) the characters’ personalities evolve with such complexity that I  felt very vested in each one whether I loved them or detested them.  You’ll feel far away from home when you hop on this “horse”.
