“In the Heights”

There is nothing to lift my spirits like a big, splashy musical and this does just the trick. Think “La La Land” meets “Hamilton” set in the Latino neighborhood of Washington Heights. The highlights of the film are the HUGE all-cast numbers that are brilliantly choreographed. They dance and sing in the streets, in the public pool, in the hair salon and it’s all original and entertaining. The story and acting are definitely second fiddle to the songs and dancing, but still a terrific film to watch. See it on HBOMax or maybe on the big screen at the movie theater where those big dance scenes will really stun you.
