Ouch!

You know what sucks? When you injure yourself (stupidly) in a matter of seconds, and then it’s a matter of weeks before you are symptom free. Your workout routine goes out the door, you get a bit down on yourself and some of those firmed up muscles start to go south. Arm-wrestling on a granite countertop with my 270 pound, 6 foot 1 inch buddy seemed like a fun idea at the time until I felt my left rib muscles say “ouch!”. And then they said “OUCH!” again 5 days later during a work-out and let’s just say, I listened this time. At 56 years old, it’s time to listen to my body a lot more and treat it like the temple it is. I feel lucky to have good health and the ability to move and use my body pretty much as I damn well please. But injuries happen and adjustments to mind and body need to be made, so I changed up my routine and sought help in the form of physical therapy. I won’t be “fixed” for 3 or 4 weeks, but in the scheme of things, what’s 3 or 4 weeks? That is 0.1% of my life on earth, so changing things up for this very short amount of time shouldn’t hurt a bit.
