Part II: Paulo in “Apollo”

In BMT 54, I wrote about my good friend and Boston Ballet Principal Dancer, Paulo Arrais, starring as Apollo in George Balanchine’s iconic ballet first performed in 1928. It is based on Greek mythology and tells the story of Apollo, the young god of music, and the three muses who visit him. The LA Phil, directed by the renowned Gustavo Dudamel, plays Stravinksy’s score while Paulo and 3 other gorgeous dancers from Boston Ballet - Lia Cirio, Chrystyn Fentroy and Viktorina Kapitonova - perform the 35 minute ballet at The Hollywood Bowl. The videography captures the world-class dancers and musicians in beautiful harmony. I urge you to set aside a quiet time to thoroughly enjoy this truly magical piece of art.
