Obsessed with My Rings

It seems like many of us have foregone the fancy watches and opted to wear an Apple Watch, a FitBit, a Whoop or some other device that monitors far more than the time of day. Steps, heart rate, blood oxygen, VO2 level, sleep cycles -- all counted, analyzed and tracked to the point that we are both the lab rat and the scientist evaluating the results. I bought my Apple Watch a few years ago so that I could listen to podcasts and music while I ran with my wireless airpods. Hands Free At Last! No more WalkMan to carry (remember how those played your CD’s!). No more iPod strapped to my arm. No more Nano clipped to my sleeve. But now I am beholden to my clever watch as I attempt to close my circles everyday: 510 calories of Movement, 30 minutes of Exercise, 12 Hours of Standing. Alas, I am not free...
