Eric Goode - Creator of “Tiger King”

Oh. My. God. Eric Goode, interviewed by Guy Raz on “The Great Creators” podcast is fascinating.  He began his life as an artist in NYC hanging out with the likes of Keith Haring, Jean-Michael Basquiat and other future luminaries.  He founded the nightclub “Area” in 1983 (I enjoyed a memorable New Year’s there pre-marriage) along with several other businesses in the hospitality sector. In the interview, he shares how his lifelong fascination with animals led him to conservation work and filmmaking, including documenting Joe Exotic and the murder plot that unfolds in Tiger King. He works his story-telling magic again in the just released Chimp Crazy (see “Watching” above) inviting the viewer to both sympathize with and harbor disdain for the human “stars” of the show.
