Happy Birthday to Me!
Let’s call this “The BMT Birthday Issue” because today - March 29th - is my 60th birthday. I have to admit that this musing feels deeper and more reflective than most as I consider what my life has looked like up until now, and what it will look like as I begin the third act. Growing up in Plattsburgh, growing into an adult at Wellesley College, marrying at 25 and having baby #1 by 30 years old represents 3 decades of enormous physical, emotional and intellectual development. Wow! From ages 30 to 55, the absolute priority for me was raising the four children and being home full-time. Biased though I am, they turned out damn well! While I loved running a busy household, I have settled into this next stage of full-time Adult Camp. Playdates with friends day or night, traveling a lot more, and embodying a spirit of spontaneity and “YOLO” are certainly perks of this next stage of living. I am grateful to be alive and well, and surrounded by supportive and loving family and friends. I am grateful to be 60.
