“LIFE”

As a 60th birthday present, I received the March 20, 1964 issue of LIFE magazine - the month/year I was born.  I read it cover to cover and was in awe by 1) the number of brands advertised that are still relevant today (Miller High Life, Ford Pick-Up Trucks, Kellog’s Corn Flakes), 2) the timeless, well-written articles on a variety of subjects from Malcolm X to Mike Nichols (comedian turned director) to the influx of German models in America, 3) the running theme of war including the Vietnam war happening at that time and a story on WWI air combat. It makes for a very unique and special birthday present - shoutout to Alice B. - that I will now emulate for others.  Amazon even sells used issues but be mindful of the condition rating.
