Carolyn’s Mittens

One of my oldest friends surprised me recently with a pair of homemade mittens.  For my set of mittens, Carolyn recycled an old sweater she herself knitted (for her hubby 30+ years ago) as the primary fabric. Using some other materials and a pattern, she sewed them all together (yes, she has a sewing machine) and the whole thing took her about an hour.  To cure her January blues, she is producing mittens at an astounding pace as gifts for friends and family. Talk about a win-win situation:  she is being loving, sustainable and productive; the recipients are being loved and warmed (literally).  Carolyn, you are an inspiration!
